The name is derived from the fact that the figure is a cartoon-style representation of a bear and that it is a variation of MediCom's Kubrick design.

Generally, BE@RBRICK come in various sizes of which they call 100%, 400% and 1000%. 100% being the smallest, 400% standing at 280mm and 1000%, the largest regular BE@RBRICK size standing at 700mm.
